Sights of Eastern Ukraine


Kharkov is Ukraine’s second major city, and although it seems quite a conservative working place, it also offers great history and an active educational life. From 1919 to 1934 Kharkov was the capital of Soviet Ukraine, while since WWII it has earned the reputation of a machine-manufacturing centre. It is in Kharkov where you can see typical pre- and post-war Soviet architecture, one of Europe’s biggest squares and several famous universities add a distinctive student feel to its picturesque streets.
